Jinsam Line, Still Here | Editorial Design

The Jinsam Line opened in 1965 and ran some 29 km from Gaeyang in Jinju, through Sacheon, to Samcheonpo. Running Jinsam Line, a 2026 arts project organized by Sacheon City, the Sacheon Cultural Foundation and the Sacheon branch of the Korea Theater Association, took the vanished railway as its motif: a youth planning team interviewed five residents who had lived beside it, then turned their memories into an exhibition of objects and a play. This 50-page book reports all three. The front cover sets the title between two photographs of the railway, one from above and one head-on, with the English name in grey and the characters 晋三線 boxed in black. The endpaper runs the aerial photograph edge to edge, and along the track the title repeats as a single line of type. The back lines up the five interviewees as silhouettes under STILL HERE. Body text is set ragged-right on a baseline grid so that word spacing stays even for readers of every age, and every photograph is numbered and listed at the back. The work covers the cover, endpaper and 50-page interior: 210 × 280 mm, softcover, set in Kim Jung-chul Myungjo and Pretendard.
