Folktale Picture Books: Seolmundae Halmang & The Crocodile of Timor-Leste
동화책 프로젝트: 설문대 할망 & 동티모르 악어 이야기
제주시와 글로벌이너피스로부터 의뢰받아 진행한 이 프로젝트는 제주 설화인 '설문대 할망'과 동티모르 설화인 '악어 이야기'를 현대적인 일러스트 동화로 재구성한 작업입니다. 각 지역 고유의 토속적인 질감과 색채를 살린 삽화를 통해 낯선 설화의 이야기를 시각적으로 친근하게 전달하며, 한글과 테툼어(동티모르 공용어)를 병기하여 문화적 교류의 의미를 더했습니다.
Commissioned by Jeju City and Global Inner Peace, this project reimagines the Jeju legend 'Seolmundae Halmang' and the Timor-Leste folktale 'The Crocodile Story' into contemporary illustrated picture books. By utilizing illustrations that capture the unique local textures and colors of each region, the design makes these traditional tales visually accessible, while the bilingual layout in Korean and Tetum emphasizes the project's goal of cultural exchange.
